Coalition of Digital Equity (CODE)

Information
The Coalition of Digital Equity (CODE) is a coalition of community organizations interested in raising awareness about digital equity barriers, and developing solutions to bridge the digital divide.

In March 2022, the City of Portland moved forward with an RFP to transfer responsibility for the Digital Inclusion Network (DIN) to a community-based organization.

The Community Technology Strategic Initiatives team engaged with ASCETA, LLC., a woman-owned firm in the Portland metro area, to help lead the reimagination of the DIN. This resulted in a final report with recommendations, including a Coalition Framework and Structure.

Ultimately, a one-time grant of $76,600 was awarded to Free Geek to support the hiring of a Coalition Manager to lead the transformation of the Digital Inclusion Network into a community-led and community-centered digital inclusion coalition, the Coalition of Digital Equity (CODE).

CODE meets the 4th Wednesday of every month from 2:30 - 4 p.m.
