BPS is holding a public meeting to share recommendations on draft rules for the Renewable Fuel Standard. This is an opportunity for early public feedback before the formal public comment period later this month. This meeting will include a formal presentation from staff, facilitated Q&A, and opportunity to submit feedback.

In 2022, City of Portland adopted a new Renewable Fuel Standard that phases in increasing blends of low carbon biofuels over the next several years. The policy will shift Portland’s diesel fuel mix to 99% renewable in 2030. Portland’s policy is unique in that it includes a Carbon Intensity Standard to shift biofuels in Portland to fuels that are lower carbon across their entire lifecycle, like fuels made from recycled waste grease.

Over the last few months, the Bureau of Planning and Sustainability (BPS) has developed draft administrative rules through a series of interviews with fuel industry stakeholders. This public meeting is the next step in the review and development process. The meeting will be recorded and available on this page shortly after for those unable to attend.
