The public comment period on the draft Climate Emergency Declaration closed on March 22. We received over 200 responses from organizations and individuals. Staff from the Office of Mayor Ted Wheeler and the Bureau of Planning and Sustainability are in the process of reviewing comments to incorporate feedback into a second draft of the declaration. A summary of comments and the updated declaration will be posted on this webpage by the end of April.

City Council meetings are currently being held remotely while Commissioners focus on responding to the COVID-19 crisis. As a result, the Climate Emergency Declaration will not be on Council’s agenda for April 22 — as originally planned. Climate action continues to be a priority for Mayor Wheeler’s administration, and staff are working with Council offices, bureaus, and our community partners to determine a new date. We will keep you informed of the updated timeline.
