The Portland Clean Energy Community Benefits Fund (PCEF) is providing free and optional grant writing trainings online in support of the launch of our first major Request for Proposals (RFP). These trainings are intended to help nonprofits build their capacity and become better prepared to develop grant applications.

The intended audience are people new to grant-writing processes and are seeking additional capacity-building opportunities. Each training will focus on one of the two categories and include some PCEF-specific elements to consider:

  • Narrative Building Training – an opportunity for you to gain knowledge and best practices about how to tell your story of who your organization serves, your project concept, and the benefits of your proposed project.

  • Budget Development Training – an opportunity for you to develop a better understanding of how to build and evaluate budget elements of your grant proposal.

There will also be one open question and answer session, which will be an opportunity to bring your questions and get tips on approaching grant writing or best practices in developing grant applications.

To get the most out of the grant writing trainings and help create a productive space for learning, we encourage you to attend or review information from the weekly informational webinars on the PCEF RFP before attending a training.

Trainings will be recorded and posted on each training's event page. The number of attendees per session is limited, and additional trainings may be added if needed. Attendance at trainings is completely optional and will not be used in any way in the selection of grant awards for PCEF funds.
