Please understand that there is a waitlist to receive a unit. Eligible applicants will be prioritized based on the following risk factors: over 60 years of age, have medical conditions that increase risk of heat-related illness, and are living alone.

Eligibility Questions

Questions in this section will determine if you are eligible to receive a cooling unit.
Household generally means all residents within a dwelling who are included on a single federal or state joint tax return (for example, taxfiler, spouse and dependents).
Is your total household income LESS than $0 per year ($0/month)?

Ineligibility Notice

Thank you. Unfortunately, the Cooling Portland program is only available to Portland residents who have a household income 60% or less of the Area Median Income. For your household, that threshold is $0 per year.

You may still be eligible for assistance through programs operated by other local organizations. We recommend you contact one of the following resources directly for information about available programs. Please note that not all programs will be suitable for every applicant, and many may not be able to provide immediate relief. If you have an urgent need for cooling assistance, please contact 211 for information on cooling shelters and transportation options.
