Food Drive for the Sunshine Division

The August 2022 Say Hey! will also serve as a food drive for the Sunshine Division to help provide free, accessible food to those in need. The increasing cost of food and supplies, combined with the record demand for food assistance, are placing significant strain on Sunshine Division. That’s why they need YOUR help. If you bring a food item to Say Hey!, you will receive an additional drink ticket. See below for recommended food items to bring:

  • Peanut butter
  • Canned/dried beans
  • Canned meats
  • Cereal
  • Pasta and rice
  • Dry boxed dinners (mac & cheese)
  • Granola bars
  • Canned soup
  • Canned tomato products
  • Canned vegetables and fruits
  • Sugar and flour

To ensure food safety, we cannot use noncommercial canned or repackaged items, perishable items, glass items, open or used items, alcoholic beverages, damaged or unlabeled cans, and homemade items.

About Say Hey!

Say Hey! is an evening of community building. Its main purpose is to welcome professionals of color who recently relocated to Oregon or southwest Washington (aka Honorees) and help them get connected with our diverse communities. The program features an introduction of Honorees, food, networking and prizes.

Meet our recent Honorees

Buddies and Volunteers Needed — Do you find it meaningful to make others feel welcomed and valued? If you attended Say Hey! before, please consider being a Buddy to our Honorees. This means being a friend to our honored guests and making sure they are comfortable and connected. If you’re interested in being a Say Hey! Buddy, please complete this online interest form.

Promotion Opportunity — To help make Honorees feel welcome and more connected to this region’s multicultural community, we provide Honorees with gift cards and passes to businesses and attractions, encouraging them to spend their time and money locally. If your organization would like to donate a virtual gift, please email sayhey@partnersindiversity.org.

Partners in Diversity’s goal is to create an environment that is safe for all. Say Hey! is free and open to professionals of color and allies.

If you have any questions about registration, please contact our Program Coordinator Nydia Peña at npena@partnersindiversity.org.
