Employee Wellness Resources Related to COVID-19

Information
The following resources and information related to illness in the workplace are provided to guide the City of Portland’s internal COVID-19 response.

Quick Guide - updated 9.27.23

The following resources and information related to illness in the workplace are provided to guide the City of Portland’s internal COVID-19 response. Please note, the City is following CDC COVID-19 guidance which can be found here: What to Do If You Were Exposed to COVID-19 | CDC and Isolation and Precautions for People with COVID-19 | CDC.  Details on how to count days post-exposure and for isolation are found at those links.

In summary, this guidance is as follows:

  • Quarantine- not required after an exposure. Mask for 10 full days and test on Day 6 post-exposure.
  • Isolation- required for 5 full days after symptom onset, or a positive test if there are no symptoms.  If asymptomatic with a positive test and symptoms start later, Day 0 restarts at symptom onset. Ok to return to work on Day 6 if symptoms have improved and fever-free for 24 hours without fever-reducing medication.  Wear a mask through day 10.  No additional testing is needed.
  • What if I continue to test positive while recovering? A positive test after 5 days does not require additional isolation if symptoms are improving, though masking is still required through Day 10. A positive test after 10 days does not require additional isolation or masking. Antigen tests may stay positive even though you are no longer contagious.
