The Bureau of Human Resources Administrative Rules for the City of Portland
On December 16, 2020, Portland City Council unanimously passed Resolution No. 37525 to authorize a Language Pay Differential policy to compensate qualifying multilingual City employees who use their language skill to assist the community.
The qualifying languages and eligible job classifications listed were updated Wednesday, Nov. 17, 2021.
There are three pathways for eligibility that can be initiated by both the city employee and a manager/supervisor. The majority of cases will process through Pathways One & Two.
