Public Employees Retirement System (PERS)
City of Portland also participates in the Oregon's Public Employees Retirement System (PERS).
Employees are PERS eligible once they have worked for a full six-months in a given 12-month period. Contributions are made on the employee's behalf following their six-month waiting period and the employer will make contributions based on the employee's tier (tiers 1, 2 and OPSRP). The City also makes contributions to the employee's IAP and EPSA.

Deferred Compensation
The City also participates in a deferred compensation plan to assist employees who are wanting to plan for their future. This voluntary retirement savings plan is available to any eligible employee who would like to set aside money towards their retirement.

- Scales based on years of service
- Employees may accrue and carryover two times their annual accrual
