Sewage Advisory: Small sewage release into the Willamette River from Elk Rock Pump Station

City crews responded Wednesday morning to a sewage overflow into the Willamette River at the Elk Rock Pump Station, located at 11875 S Riverwood Road.

Crews responded at approximately 10 a.m. and stopped the overflow by 11 a.m. No cleanup was necessary.

The release is estimated to be approximately 60 gallons. The overflow occurred while City crews were performing maintenance at the pump station.

Public Advisory

As a precaution, Environmental Services advises the public to:

• Avoid contact with the Willamette River in the affected area during the overflow and for 48 hours after the overflow stopped because bacteria levels may be elevated.
• Avoid recreational activities involving contact with the water, including swimming, paddleboarding, kayaking, and similar activities, during this period.
