NW Cornell Road is now open to traffic after emergency repairs successfully fixed a sinkhole under the road. Final paving was completed on Friday June 5. Crews will continue work on erosion control, minor road repairs and site cleanup the week of June 8.

Minor Work Ongoing
Work crews are finishing minor road repairs and erosion control. Upon completion, the site will be cleaned and protective tree fencing will be removed.

A Complicated Repair
Crews responded quickly to a landslide on NW Cornell Road caused by heavy rains on March 13, closing the shoulder of the road to traffic while repairs began. However, work was complicated by the formation of a sinkhole near the slide, requiring closure of the westbound lane for repairs. On March 16, the entire area was closed to traffic after crews discovered that stormwater erosion was undermining soil beneath the roadway itself. At that point, NW Cornell Road was closed to all travel between NW Thompson Road and NW Skyline Boulevard.
