S Corbett Ave will close between the I-5 off-ramp and SW Seymour St starting at 8 p.m. on Wednesday, May 20. Crews will excavate utilities in Corbett Ave, investigate conditions underground, and make needed repairs. The closure is expected through Friday, May 22.

Reason for Closure
During recent work for the Carolina Trunk Sewer Project near the southbound I5 off-ramp onto S Corbett Ave, crews noticed possible settlement or ground movement beneath S Corbett Ave. Crews will investigate the settlement and make any necessary repairs.
Traffic Impacts
S Corbett Ave will close to all vehicle traffic at 8 p.m. Wednesday, May 20. The street will remain closed through noon on Friday, May 22, when repairs are expected to finish.
People traveling through the area on Corbett Ave should use alternate routes, such as S Macadam Ave, SW Barbur Blvd, or I5.
Emergency access will be maintained at all times.
Anyone traveling through this area or alternate routes may experience delays and should use caution.
Local access to residences and businesses will be provided. Obey signs and directions from flaggers and other work crews when they are present. Moving or driving around barricades creates unsafe conditions and causes additional risks and work for crews.
Repair work is weather-dependent, and the schedule may change. This advisory will be updated if there are significant changes.
Service Impacts
During this repair effort, crews may need to shut down the local water main for up to 12 hours. Water service customers should not be impacted. The Portland Water Bureau will route water service through nearby pipes to avoid any disruptions.
Shutting down and restarting water mains can sometimes stir up sediment in nearby pipes. When sediments are stirred up, people may see water that ranges from a yellow tea-colored tint to a brown coffee color. The discoloration typically only lasts up to a few hours while the sediments resettle to the bottom of the water main.
