A sewage release from an outfall just downstream of the Morisson Bridge occurred at approximately 9:01 a.m. on January 6, 2026, and lasted about two minutes. An estimated 1,995 gallons were released to the Willamette River.
The release is believed to have been caused by a temporary operational issue at a pump station during maintenance activity.
Public Advisory:
- Avoid contact with the river in the affected area during the release and for 48 hours after it stops, due to potential increases in bacteria levels.
- Recreational activities such as swimming, paddleboarding, kayaking, and other activities with contact with the river are not advised during this time.
