Soil Investigations
Late January and through February 2025, crews will take a variety of measurements to determine public right-of-way boundaries, private property lines, public sewer easement boundaries, the presence of utility vaults and other landmarks, and other necessary measurements.
To avoid damaging any utilities underground, it is necessary to locate and mark where they are located. Crews paint markings on the street in different colors or place small flags in the ground to indicate the presence of underground utilities. You may see paint markings or flags during difference phases of the project. Please keep them in place and do not remove them.
Crews will be investigating underground conditions. They will drill holes in the street and side of the road to take soil samples. What the engineers learn from the analysis of soil, rock, and pavement samples will help them determine construction methods and locations.
