SW 61st Culvert Project

Sewer and Stormwater
Active
Environmental Services is in the early stages of design on a culvert replacement project on SW 61st between SW Dickinson and Pomona streets. This project will help reduce flooding in the area and improve water quality in Ash and Fanno creeks.
Design will continue through 2025. Construction is expected to begin in Summer 2026.

Project Area

Project Background

The culvert that runs under SW 61st Avenue was found to be undersized. Replacing this culvert will restore critical infrastructure that helps reduce flooding and will result in improved water flows and quality.

What's Happening Now

Over the next few weeks and months, work crews will be in the area to perform investigative activities. Activities include site visits and evaluation, survey, soil sampling, utility locates, culvert cleaning and inspection. Some investigative activities will require restricting parking and temporarily closing travel lanes. The traveling public should expect minor traffic delays. Information gathered will help determine the replacement method, stormwater management methods, and how to minimize construction impacts on residents and businesses.
