NE 87th and Marx Sewer Project

Sewer and Stormwater
Active
Bureau of Environmental Services (BES) is designing a project to replace 437 feet of sewer line located on NE 87th Avenue between Marx Drive and Columbia Court in the Parkrose neighborhood. This project will increase system capacity and longevity and help protect public and environmental health.
The project is in the design phase.

General Schedule

Construction is anticipated to begin in Summer 2024. It should take about three months to complete.

What’s Happening Now

Crews will be in the neighborhood locating utilities, surveying, and taking soil samples. They will be drilling small holes in the pavement to help the project team understand conditions that crews may encounter during construction. This information will also help engineers decide what construction method is best for the sewer repair.

These information-gathering activities typically occur over time, rather than all at once. Visit the Pre-Construction webpage for a description of activities that occur before the sewer work can take place.

What to Expect During Soil Sampling

The soil sampling holes will be a few inches in diameter and will be filled immediately after the sampling is completed. This work may require temporary lane restrictions and on-street parking closures. There may be brief periods of noise, dust, and mild vibration during drilling. Work will last approximately two to four hours.
