Project Area
Project Background
Inspection on two culverts that run parallel to each other at NE 33rd and Elrod were found to be in poor condition and in need of replacement. Replacing these culverts will restore critical infrastructure that helps reduce flooding in the area which will result in improved water flows and quality.
What's Happening Now
Over the next year, work crews will be in the study area to perform investigative activities. Activities include site visits and evaluation, survey, soil sampling, utility locates, culvert cleaning and inspection. Some investigative activities will require restricting parking and closing travel lanes. The traveling public should expect minor traffic delays. Information gathered will help determine the replacement method, stormwater management methods, and how to minimize construction impacts on residents and businesses.

What to Expect During Soil Sampling
The soil sampling holes will be a few inches in diameter and will be filled immediately after the sampling is completed. This work may require temporary lane restrictions and on-street parking closures. There may be brief periods of noise, dust, and mild vibration during drilling. Work will last approximately two to four hours.
