Environmental Services has completed emergency repairs to a collapsed stormwater pipe near SW Dosch Road and SW Newby Terrace. The project included building approximately 65 feet of new stormwater pipe and a new stormwater maintenance hole.
Emergency stormwater pipe repairs were completed July 24, 2026.
Project Area
Repair work will occur at the intersection of SW Dosch Road and SW Newby Terrace. SW Dosch Road will be closed between SW Newby Terrace and SW Hamilton Street to complete this work safely.
What's Happening Now
Repairs to the collapsed stormwater pipe are now complete.
Traffic Impacts
SW Dosch Road is closed between SW Newby Terrace and SW Hamilton Street. People traveling through the area should expect delays and use alternate routes when possible. Local access to residences and businesses will be maintained throughout the closure.
Motorists, pedestrians, and cyclists should follow all posted signs and directions from flaggers and work crews. Please do not move or drive around barricades. Doing so creates unsafe conditions and may delay repairs.
The closure is expected to remain in place until the middle of July 2026. However, extreme heat, the discovery of unforeseen site conditions, or other unexpected circumstances could affect the schedule and extend the duration of the closure.
Extreme Weather
When high temperatures, extreme heat, near freezing temperatures, or extreme cold are in the weather forecast, crews may adjust schedules to protect workers from the dangers of heat stress and cold stress. When working in extreme weather environments, all City workers, contractors, and subcontractors must follow Oregon's OSHA (Occupational Safety and Health Administration)mandates and Environmental Services' Heat Illness Safety and Health Planand its Cold Stress Safety and Health Plan.
You may see crews taking more frequent water and rest breaks, stopping work at 12 p.m., and taking other protective measures during extreme weather.
What to Expect During Construction
Construction hours are Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Crews may also work on Saturdays if necessary.
You can expect the following activities to occur during construction hours:
- Noise, vibration, and dust
- Traffic delays
- Parking restrictions
- Equipment storage overnight
- Continued sewer and water service
- Maintained access to your home or business

Background
In early June 2026, Portland Bureau of Transportation crews performing paving work discovered a sinkhole near SW Dosch Road and SW Newby Terrace as a result of a collapsed stormwater pipe. Crews stabilized the area and began completing permanent repairs. The focus of this effort was to replace the collapsed stormwater pipe and build a new maintenance hole. Stormwater pipe repairs are now complete.
