The selection of a contractor to work at your property requires careful attention. Oregon Homebuilder Law, ORS Chapter 701, requires all construction contractors, including self-employed individuals, partnerships, and corporations, to be registered with the State of Oregon Construction Contractors Board (CCB) before they advertise, bid on, perform construction, remodeling, or repair work of any kind.
All licensed contractors must include their CCB registration number on all their printed materials, advertising, bid sheets, contracts, business cards, company vehicles, and signs.
If you wish to verify a contractor’s CCB registration, you can search the CCB database of contractor licenses for current information about registration and any claims filed against a contractor. You may also search for the contractor on the Better Business Bureau website. Finally, we suggest that you consider soliciting bids from at least three different contractors.
