To help cover the costs of intake, review and approval of building code appeals, and due to the increased complexity of processing appeals (building, mechanical, plumbing, electrical and floating structures), the application fees for appeals were increased by the Portland City Council.

Also, the number of items allowed per commercial appeal are being reduced from four items to two items.
Beginning July 1, 2022, appeal fees are increasing to the following amounts:
- One and Two-Family Dwellings appeal fee: $275
- Commercial appeal fee (up to 2 items): $575
- Commercial additional item fee (anything over two items, submitted on each appeal): $140
The fee increases will apply to all appeals submitted on or after July 1, 2022. Please mark your calendars.
