Amendments to Oregon Residential Specialty Code and Oregon Structural Specialty Code in effect as of April 1

As of April 1, 2021, amendments to Chapter 1 of the 2017 Oregon Residential Specialty Code (ORSC) and the 2019 Oregon Structural Specialty Code (OSSC), adopted by the Oregon Building Codes Division, are in effect.

To be vested in the code requirements in effect before April 1, permit requests must (1) have been submitted to the Bureau of Development Services no later than 11:59 p.m. on March 31, (2)
meet submittal requirements, (3) resolve any requests for more information during the completeness review, and (4) pay intake fees associated with the permit not later than 5 p.m. on Friday, May 28.


Also effective on April 1, the Oregon Building Codes Division adopted the 2021 ORSC. Residential permit customers may use either the 2017 ORSC or the 2021 ORSC for permit requests submitted to the Bureau of Development Services through Sept. 30, 2021. Effective Oct. 1, 2021, new residential permit requests must follow the 2021 ORSC.
