Changes Coming to the Development Services Center on May 14 to Reduce Wait Times

Starting May 14, 2018, BDS staff will be piloting a change to help reduce customer wait times in the Development Services Center (DSC).

Here are the specifics: The Building Code Plans Examiner’s review will no longer be the last review point. Instead, it will be the second review point, immediately following Planning and Zoning. This changes the order in which building permit applications are reviewed and approved to:

  • 1st Screen
  • 2nd Screen
  • Planning and Zoning
  • Building Code Plan Review
  • Interagency (IA) Partners

DSC staff will be available to guide customers through the process improvements made on May 14. We appreciate your patience and cooperation while we work to try and improve the customer experience.

The upcoming pilot improvements are a part of a larger-scale effort to reduce customer wait times in the DSC based on suggestions from staff and managers from BDS and Interagency Partners who service the DSC. BDS staff are working to implement these changes, evaluate their success, and ultimately make applying for a permit more efficient for customers.

If you have any questions about upcoming changes or ideas on how we can improve services in the Development Services Center, please contact Christy Pierce.

The City of Portland is committed to providing meaningful access. For accommodations, modifications, translation, interpretation or other services, please call 503-823-7300, the TTY at 503-823-6868 or the Oregon Relay Service: 711. Traducción e interpretación | Chuyển Ngữ hoặc Phiên Dịch
