The Bureau of Planning and Sustainability is working with the Portland Bureau of Transportation to update the Bicycle Parking requirements (33.266.200) for new development in Portland.

Portland’s bicycle parking requirements haven’t been updated in more than 20 years. So as more people ride bikes to commute to work and get around, cyclists will need more and better parking facilities. And new facilities will need to accommodate new types of bikes, including cargo bikes, electric bikes, tricycles and more.

The Bicycle Parking Code Update Project is proposing to increase the number and improve safety and convenience of bike parking spaces in new development. The Proposed Draft is now available and will be reviewed by the Planning and Sustainability Commission in January 2019.
