The Erosion and Sediment Control manual is one tool for complying with the federal Clean Water Act. It describes requirements for developers and construction managers to keep dirt, mud, rocks and sediment on-site when building occurs.

Erosion control is important for maintaining water quality and nutrients in soil. It is also important for protecting nearby streams and the fish and wildlife that inhabit them.

A draft of the updated Erosion and Sediment Control Manual and proposed administrative rules and city code updates are available to download from the links provided below. At this Lunch and Learn session, City of Portland staff will answer questions and share some of the highlights of the new draft manual, a timeline for its further development and review, and ways you can help improve it. We look forward to your participation!
