We are seeking licensed construction, engineering, architecture and trades volunteers who align with the City of Portland's core values of anti-racism, equity, collaboration, transparency, communication, & fiscal responsibility.
The clients we assist are part of the Empowered Communities Program which supports Black, Indigenous, people of color and persons with disabilities with the building permit process. The program assists homeowners who have received a code letter from the city, small business owners and arts & cultural organizations.
Here are some examples of types of needs:
- Plumbing and electrical repairs and upgrades
- Tile the floor and shower of a bathroom
- Repair or replace asphalt driveway
- Draft plans for a deck
If we have a client that needs your services, we will reach out with their information. If you accept, you will work directly with them by sharing your expertise. Priority is given for health and safety improvements for low-income clients.
How we help:
- Research property to understand code requirements
- Outline scope of work to meet code requirements
- Be a resource during the permitting process and inspections process
We also try to connect the client with city and community resources including permit fee reduction.
