About the community event
Celebrate American Archives Month with the Portland City Archives & Records Management Division at a two-day zine-making workshop on October 6th and 13th from 5:00-7:00 pm. Attendees will explore the City Archives and create their own zine using historical materials.
Across two sessions, attendees will get an inside look at the City's collections while learning how to make a zine from start to finish. The Independent Publishing Resource Center will join the first session to discuss zine libraries and share examples from their own collection to help attendees generate ideas. Zine artist Envy Estacio will join the second session to help guide the creative process.
Both sessions will be held at the Portland Archives & Records Center, 1800 SW 6th Avenue, 5th floor, Suite 550. Enter the doors located on the south side of the Urban Plaza on Portland State University's campus, between SW 5th and 6th Avenue near SW Montgomery Street.
The event is free to attend but requires registration. Attendees should plan to attend both sessions and register in advance due to space limitations.
Please reach out to parc@portlandoregon.gov for any accessibility accommodations.
