82nd Avenue is in bad shape and needs urgent maintenance and safety repairs. PBOT will invest $80 million in federal American Rescue Plan Act funding to deliver new crossings, more lighting, improved sidewalks, traffic signal upgrades, new pavement, and safety improvements at intersections. Because the project is federally funded, PBOT faces a tight timeline to deliver the needed repairs. All projects must be built by 2026 or PBOT will lose the money.
To meet this deadline, PBOT will rely on insights from the extensive community engagement the bureau and other agencies conducted over the past 10 years, including the ODOT Avenue of Roses Implementation Plan, PBOT's 2019 82nd Avenue Plan, and Metro’s Get Moving 2020 regional funding measure. PBOT will have the opportunity to consult with the community on specific locations for some of the repairs. This consultation will start in spring 2022.
